Sensory classes are designed to engage children through activities that stimulate one or more of the senses: touch, sight, hearing, smell, taste as well as body awareness and balance.
Sensory Classes
-
Alerting
This activity increases alertness and engagement. Eg, jumping, bouncing and fast paced games
-
Organising
This supports coordination, focus and body awareness. Eg. balance games, group activity
-
Tactile
Deepens sensory input. Eg play dough, pushing/pulling objects
-
Calming
Reduces arousal, prepare for transitions or learning. Eg. Deep breathing, slow rocking, quiet music
This group therapy is designed for both NDIS and non-NDIS neurodivergent participants to support children in improving their sensory habits and processing. Through fun and engaging play, art therapy and sensory activities, kids can explore their senses in a safe, supportive environment. Our goal is to help each child develop better sensory awareness and skills that can make everyday life easier and more enjoyable.
Each week will have a new theme
The classes will be structured to follow the sensory exploration of a specific theme. For example “Under the sea” will have water play, blue lights and shell sounds.
Classes will have 3-6 participants.
The space will be designed to ensure participants feel safe and can opt-out of an activity if they wish to do so. We will have a calming space put in place for breaks if needed.
A section of the class will have a group activity and we also encourage parents or chaperone to join in the class if needed.
The classes will follow a specific routine every week so participants can familiarise themselves with the activities.
